In May 2021, she completed an impressive double ascent of Mount Everest and Lhotse in just 11 hours and 59 minutes – an unofficial record for the two 8000-meter peaks. Already the following year, she improved this time to 9 hours and 5 minutes, cementing her position as one of the world’s most efficient high-altitude climbers.
During the period 2022–2023, Harila took climbing to a new level by summiting all 14 of the world’s highest mountains – each over 8,000 meters – in just one year and five days. This was officially recognized as a world record in July 2023. In 2023, she again climbed the world’s 14 highest peaks in only 92 days. She reached the summit of K2, the final goal, on July 27, 2023.
Harila’s climbing projects have not only been physical and mental challenges, but also a major source of inspiration for many. She has pushed boundaries, set new standards, and helped highlight both female and Sámi accomplishments in an otherwise male-dominated sport.
