In May 2021, she completed an impressive double ascent of Mount Everest and Lhotse in just 11 hours and 59 minutes – an unofficial record for the two 8000-meter peaks. Already the following year, she improved this time to 9 hours and 5 minutes, cementing her position as one of the world’s most efficient high-altitude climbers.
During the period 2022–2023, Harila took mountaineering to a new level when she climbed all 14 of the world’s highest mountains – each over 8000 meters – in just one year and five days. This extreme achievement was officially recognized as a world record.
Harila’s climbing projects have not only been physical and mental challenges, but also a major source of inspiration for many. She has pushed boundaries, set new standards, and helped highlight both female and Sámi accomplishments in an otherwise male-dominated sport.
