Report on the properties of polypropylene underwear by The Norwegian Military Academy

On February 15th 1984, a study was conducted at the Norwegian Military Academy (Krigsskolen) by Cadet Thorbjørn Theie. The study explored the properties of polypropylene fiber in comparison to other fibers, such as cotton and wool. The question posed was whether polypropylene underwear possesses the desired characteristics for use in the Norwegian Army.

Brynje Super Thermo mesh was included in the test. The report states that polypropylene fiber has the following characteristics:

- Extremely low weight
- Minimal moisture absorption
- It is the most heat-insulating fiber available in the market
- Surprisingly, it even outperforms wool in terms of insulation on the same volume basis. Here, the structural design of the garments plays a significant role (mesh vs. tightly woven fabric).
