Even L. Sverdrup: Expedition man and adventurer
Even Leivestad Sverdrup is chasing mastery and a sense of freedom on versatile adventures. He has crossed the wilderness of Alaska, explored volcanic landscapes across Iceland in a self-rigged expedition vehicle, and walked the Hardangervidda plateau from end to end, to name a few.
Even has always lived an active life. His childhood was filled with a varied outdoor life, and his teenage years were devoted to sports. He spent many years as a mountain biker and competed for a long time on top level in Norway. When Even was 20 years old, sports had to give way to his increasing interest in outdoor life.
Gradually, the trips became harder and longer. When he got married, it was only natural that the honeymoon would be a tough expedition - Alaska from side to side. With 52 kilos on his back, he embarked on a very demanding expedition together with his wife, Kristina Leivestad Sverdrup. They walked and paddled 1800 kilometers through tundra, mountains, large rivers, and almost impassable brushwood. They encountered 16 bears, forest fires, and almost drowned in an ice-covered river. After 57 days in the wilderness, they became the first to cross Alaska from Kaktovik in the northeast to Unalakleet in the southwest.
