In the spring of 2025, Anders embarked on a major adventure: a 50‑day solo expedition into the wild nature of Northern Canada, specifically through the Northwest Passage. The area fascinates him deeply - because of the dramatic history that has unfolded there, the rich wildlife, and the magnificent, untouched landscape.

Anders is 39 years old, married, and the father of two teenagers. He lives in Oslo, right on the edge of Østmarka, together with his family, a dog, and a cat. He works in the Armed Forces, and in his free time you’ll often find him training, out on a hike, working in the garden, reading, or watching a good series.

He grew up in Ringerike, and outdoor life has been a part of him for as long as he can remember. His parents took him on trips year‑round, and childhood holidays were spent at the cabin. Scouting became an important arena for learning and adventure, and it was there he developed a taste for more demanding trips - like the “field‑jacket trip,” where all equipment had to fit in his pockets. As a teenager, he continued exploring the outdoors with good friends - on cabin trips, fishing trips, and tent trips with big campfires. Many of the same friends still join him on adventures today, even if the pace has slowed a little.

He thrives best on winter trips, preferably with a pulk, but he also loves fishing trips with a packraft or calm evenings by the fire. For Anders, outdoor life is about enjoyment, and he believes trips should be as comfortable as possible. He likes challenges, but not for the sake of hardship - the goal is always to find smart solutions and take care of both body and equipment. That’s the key to a good trip.

In 2023, he took the step from weekend and week-long tours to his first major expedition: a 20‑day journey through the Northwest Passage, from Cambridge Bay to Gjoa Haven. The experience left him wanting more - and paved the way for the adventure that awaited two years later.

In the spring of 2025, Anders set out on a true adventure: “For 50 days I travelled alone across parts of the Northwest Passage, pulling a sled and carrying a rifle and skis through the raw and magnificent wilderness of northern Canada. The expedition was inspired by the sled journey undertaken by Godfred Hansen and Peder Ristvedt while Gjøa overwintered in Gjoa Haven during Amundsen’s first navigation of the Northwest Passage. My journey was a tribute to this lesser‑known but important chapter of Norwegian polar history. I also wanted to show that with thorough and systematic planning, it is possible to step away from everyday life for a while - and perhaps inspire others to pursue their own dreams. The expedition became a journey where the joy of outdoor life, the fascination with polar history, and encounters with the Indigenous peoples of northern Canada wove together into a true adventure. A personal tribute to the polar heroes who came before us, and to the nature that still takes our breath away.”
