To set new speed record, she must ski 1,130 kilometers and 3,000 meters of altitude in less than 31 days, 13 hours and 19 minutes. Hege Victoria will do everything she can to set a new record, but also has another goal: To reach the South Pole before her friend Marianne dies of cancer. She also wants to raise money for cancer research.
Hege Victoria has been granted leave from the police and has been in hard training in addition to a full-time job for two years. She has sold her apartment to finance the expeditio and in December she will leave for Chile to carry out the final preparations for the expedition. Along the way, Antarctic Logistics and Expeditions (ALE) will monitor the expedition and receive daily updates from Hege Victoria with information on position, health etc. She will also have close contact with Norway's expedition expert no. 1, Lars Ebbesen. Ebbesen will give Hege Victoria detailed weather forecasts and together they will make plans continuously throughout the expedition. She can also receive medical advice via satellite phone.
